It actually happened.
Tennis star Genie Bouchard has kept her word and given one lucky Twitter user “the best date of his life”.
Bouchard lost a bet with John Goehrke, who goes by the Twitter handle @punslayinwoods, after the New England Patriots beat her Atlanta Falcons in the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.
And on Wednesday, the 20-year-old Missouri student’s fantasy date became a reality.
Bouchard, fresh from her appearance in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition, gave Goehrke the experience of a lifetime, with an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City.

Bouchard, who was in NYC for ceremonies tied to the Sports Illustrated launch, paid for Goehrke’s flight, hotel room, picked him up in a limo and they then sat courtside together at an NBA Brooklyn Nets game.
According to Bouchard, it was the perfect time for their date.
“I thought why not make the date happen sooner rather than later, there’s a Nets game tonight, I think it would be a great date idea,” she told YES Network during the date.
“Probably less awkward than maybe a one-on-one dinner since I didn’t know John.”
And credit to Goehrke, who was on the receiving end of a compliment from the world No 47.
“He’s normal! It’s awesome. I was a little bit worried because his Twitter profile picture was a picture of Tiger Woods, so I was like ‘oh my god he’s one of those super fans, I don’t even know what he looks like’,” she said.
“But he’s awesome, we’re getting to know each other it’s great.”

The Canadian heartthrob taunted Patriots fans during the NFL decider.
With the Falcons leading comfortably before halftime, Bouchard tweeted, “I knew Atlanta would win btw”.
But Goehrke felt it was far from over and tweeted back “if patriots win we go on a date?”. She responded “Sure”.
The Falcons then blew a 25-point lead as the Tom Brady-inspired Patriots rallied to win in overtime and steal the championship.
And for John? It was a date he will never, ever forget, telling ‘Genie’ it’s his “best date ever”.
